Using Social Capital to Halt Pollution in Dharavi
In collaboration with URBZ India, the pilot project in Dharavi is focused on using SoCCs to incentivize residents of Dharavi to keep their streets clean. Dharavi houses one of the largest slum neighborhoods in the world, and most of its residents are unable to afford basic necessities like food, shelter, and education. Those who earn SoCCs for keeping their community clean can redeem them for nutritious food grain. 60 families are participating in the project for a six-month period (initiated in January 2014).
